Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy for Multi-Family Buildings

Whether you are a resident, owner, or property manager of a multi-family building, there are many tools available to help conserve energy in your building. Options include installing efficient lighting, retrofitting windows, purchasing ENERGY STAR appliances, and adding insulation.  A study completed in 2012 found that multi-family buildings in New York City that installed energy efficiency measures reduced their fuel consumption by 19% and electric consumption by 7% on average. Renewable energy options, including onsite solar system installation and off-site green power purchases, can also help buildings save money and reduce carbon emissions.
