District’s Unemployment Rate Remains Unchanged at 7.5 Percent

Washington, DC – The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services reported today that the preliminary May job estimates show a decrease of 3,200 jobs, for a total of 746,100 jobs in the District. The private sector dropped 3,100 jobs, while the public sector payrolls declined by 100 jobs. The numbers are drawn from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) through its monthly survey of the District of Columbia’s employers.
