(Washington DC) – The DC Department of Employment Services (DOES) invited over 100 Ward 8 residents to attend a pre-screening hiring event on Wednesday, March 26th at the DOES Headquarters. Candidates that successfully passed the agency’s skills screening process met with hiring employers on Friday, March 28th at the St. Elizabeth’s East Campus. Employer partners included Colonial Parking, Chaney Enterprises, IHOP, CVS Caremark, and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation.
“The economic development happening in and around the St. Elizabeth’s campus gives DOES a unique opportunity to prepare and directly connect Ward 8 residents to Ward 8 jobs,” said DOES Interim Director, Tom Luparello. “We look forward to connecting even more District residents to hiring employers through unique partnerships like this in the months to come.”
This first hiring event is part of a series of events through the development phases of the St. Elizabeth’s Campus. DOES continues to work closely with the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning & Economic Development (DMPED) to identify and work with other development projects around the city.
