Standard and SmarTrip®-enabled DC One Cards are available from any DC One Card Service Center Location.

Requirements for students

DC Public School (DCPS) secondary students (grades 6-12) and DC Public Charter School students, the DC One Card is issued at your school.

If necessary, parents must accompany their Elementary School Students to one of the DC One Card Service Center Locations and follow the requirements for minors.

Requirements for minors

To obtain a card, parents must complete the online DC One Card Application and present original proof of identity documents to a DC One Card Service Center for each minor. Both minor and a parent must be present at the time of card issuance.

Requirements for seniors

Citizens aged 65 and older are eligible to receive a Senior SmarTrip®-enabled DC One Card. The Senior SmarTrip® DC One Card acts like any other DC One Card with the added benefit of providing seniors with the discounted Senior fare on Metrobus and Metrorail.

Any citizen age 65 and older may receive a SmarTrip®-enabled DC One Card when applying for a DC One Card at a Customer Service Center.

In order to receive the card, seniors must provide Proof of Identity and Age and then simply agree to automatically register their Senior SmarTrip®-enabled DC One Card with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). This will protect their card if it malfunctions or is lost, stolen or damaged.
