The District offers a vast amount of environmental data for interested researchers and residents to access.

  • Climate of Opportunity - Greenhouse Gas Inventory: A city wide Inventory of Greenhouse Gas Emissions found that buildings are responsible for 74% of the greenhouse gas emissions in the District.
  • Energy Benchmarking Results: Energy benchmarking means tracking a building’s energy and water use and using a standard metric to compare the building’s performance against past performance and to its peers nationwide.
  • Total Maximum Daily Loads - TMDLs:  EPA requires DC calculate the maximum amount of a pollutant that its water bodies can receive and still meet water quality standards.
  • Green Dashboard: Provides data on the District's environmental sustainability performance, download data and charts, as well as learn more about various measures of sustainability.
  • GreenUp DC: A tool to help District of Columbia property owners design, plan, and install green projects on their properties. You can lower your bills and protect the environment by saving energy and reducing stormwater runoff.
  • GreenDC Map: Highlights environmental points of interest throughout the nation's capital, and we urge you to use it to explore all that is green about our city.
