Resources for Residents

Photo of family sitting in front yard

The environment is intrinsically tied to public health. And so, at the District Department of the Environment (DDOE), our work revolves around maintaining the health and safety of our residents. From assessing environmental risks in air quality to keeping our rivers and water clean to providing energy assistance to those in need, DDOE works tirelessly to protect our local environment and ensure that District residents have the resources they need to incorporate environmentally friendly practices in their day-to-day activities.

ATTENTION LOW INCOME RESIDENTS!

If you are eligible to receive or currently receiving the “Residential Aid Discount” or “RAD” on your electric bill and are considering switching to an independent electric supplier (i.e. not PEPCO), you will likely LOSE most of your discount upon switching.  Please call PEPCO BEFORE you switch to find out if you are eligible to receive or are currently receiving RAD so that you can make an informed decision whether to switch to an independent electric supplier.
