Who are the District’s American Job Center Partners and what do they do?

Who are the District’s American Job Center Partners and what do they do?

In addition, various American Job Centers enter into partnerships with individual community organizations to provide essential services to local residents.  Some of those partnerships are as follows:

Southeast Center 

Academy of Hope - The Academy of Hope provides a variety of programs and services to meet the needs of our adult learners, including Adult Education Programs and student support services to help break down barriers that may stand in the way of a student meeting his or her goals.

All Faith Consortium (AFC) - AFC was established to bring together faith and community-based organizations and private industry to use innovative approaches in assisting veterans, single mothers, low-income fathers, ex-prisoners, the elderly and youth in achieving permanent self-sufficiency in the areas of employment, training, literacy, housing, health, education and other life-sustaining benefits.

Northeast Center

YWCA - The YWCA’s Workforce Literacy Program (WLP) prepares women who have been chronically unemployed with basic skills to enter the job market.  Although, participants are given opportunities to take classroom administered, practice Pre-GED tests.  Because the target population faces a multitude of barriers in entering the workplace, the centers also make referrals to appropriate social service agencies.

Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) - EOC is in its 40th year of providing services that help the economically disadvantaged citizens of the nation's capital make the transition from secondary to postsecondary education. The mission of the College Board EOC is to encourage and prepare adults who want to begin or continue a program of postsecondary education and to help them reach their educational and career goals.
