The District Announces Living Wage for Contractors of District Government

The District’s Living Wage for 2013 is announced at $13.40 per hour


(Washington DC) – As authorized by the Living Wage Act of 2006, all recipients of government contracts or assistance of $100,000 or more are required to pay their affiliated employees no less than the living wage authorized by the District. All subcontractors of $15,000 or more must also pay their affiliated employees the living wage. 

Based on the calculation set in the statute, the 2013 Living Wage is $13.40. This announced wage includes home care agencies, community residential facilities, or group homes for individuals with developmental disabilities. Home health workers providing services as part of a managed care organizations remain exempt. 
The District will announce the 2014 calculation no later than March 1st as required.
