(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, May 9, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will highlight her investments in critical job training and career readiness programs put at risk by budget cuts proposed by the Council.
Mayor Bowser will join the Department of Employment Services to showcase Project Empowerment participants who have successfully completed the program’s job readiness training and are currently enrolled in Georgetown University’s Pivot Program, an initiative that offers returning citizens the opportunity to learn skills and earn a certificate in business and entrepreneurship.
The Council’s proposed budget gimmicks with key workforce development program funding would effectively end access to Project Empowerment, Career Connections, and adult job training programs for over 1,400 residents.
