One City One Hire is an innovative economic development strategy that serves as a catalyst to jump-start the Mayor's pledge to put all unemployed District residents--in every Ward of the city--back to work.
Unemployment Data for DC Wards
Unemployment Data for DC Wards
The Office of Labor Market Research and information (OLMRI) calculated labor force data for Wards using the census share method. The census share method applies ratios calculated using a special household-only tabulation of Census 2000 employment and unemployment data to the District's not seasonally-adjusted Local Area Unemployment Statistics estimates. Since Ward boundaries do not follow census geography, the split census tracts were allocated to the Wards using Census 2000 Total Population data at the block level. If more than 95 percent of a split census tract's Census 2000 Total Population was contained in a single Ward, the entire census tract's labor force was allocated to that ward. Census 2010 data will be used when the Bureau of Labor Statistics incorporates them in official Local Area Unemployment Statistics estimates.
