DC Career Connections is a work readiness program designed to provide more than 400 out-of-school District youth with opportunities to gain valuable work experience, skills training, and individualized coaching and support to gain employment. An integral component to the Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Safe, Stronger DC Initiative, DC Career Connections will actively seek to engage youth in target police service areas across the District, including Langston/Carver, Lincoln Heights, Benning Terrace, Woodland Terrace, and Congress Park.
With the help of business leaders and community members throughout the District of Columbia, this initiative will keep young people gainfully employed and engaged while elevating them to great heights of professional growth and personal achievement.
DC Career Connections will provide young adults ages 20 - 24 with meaningful, paid work experience and avenues for education, training and professional development. Participants will have the opportunity to work up to nine months for up to 25 hours per week at a rate of $8.25 per hour.
Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to be eligible:
- District of Columbia residents between the ages of 20 and 24
- Permission to work in the United States
- Meet the requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)
