The Department of Employment Services modernized Unemployment Insurance Benefits Systems is Live and Now Available!

Big Changes! To ensure that claimants have a secure and efficient experience when using the new and improved District of Columbia Unemployment Insurance Benefits System all claimants will need to verify their identities through the new + DOES portal, a fraud prevention tool.
Featured System Improvements:

Single System Portal for All Claims: This portal will serve as a one-stop destination for all claim-related activities — filing claims, checking claim status, filing appeals and weekly certifications — in a more streamlined and user-friendly experience.

Streamlined Customer Communications: With the new system, we have enhanced the clarity, speed, and efficiency of our communications with claimants to improve service delivery and response times.

Integrated Identity Verification through To ensure the security and integrity of the system, we have incorporated's robust identity verification technology. This will play a critical role in safeguarding user information and providing secure access.

Fraud Prevention Tools: The introduction of advanced fraud prevention tools will significantly reduce the risk of fraudulent activities, protecting both the system and our claimants.

Self Service 1099: Customers can print, download, and request a copy of their 1099 form and choose their preferred delivery method directly from DOES.  

Modern Data Models and APIs: The use of modern data models and APIs will facilitate better data management and integration with other systems, thereby enhancing the overall functionality and responsiveness of the system.

Mobile-Friendly User Experience: Recognizing the prolific use of mobile devices in our lives, we have ensured that the new system is mobile-friendly, allowing claimants to access and manage their claims conveniently from their smartphones or tablets.
