Education Prerequisites

  • Successfully complete a nursing education program leading to licensure as a registered nurse which was approved by the Board

Certifications

To qualify for a license, an applicant must have obtained a passing score on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)

National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN)

  • Submit application to the DC Board of Nursing
  • Receive Authorization to Test (ATT) from the DC Board of Nursing
  • Pay $200 registration fee
  • Maintain certification with 24 hours of continuing education every 2 years

Undergo a criminal background check

License

  • Obtain a passing score on the NCSBN NCLEX-RN exam
