District Unemployment Rate Improves to 5.8 Percent, Down from 7.5 Percent When Bowser Administration Took Office

(Washington, DC) – The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services reported today that the seasonally adjusted preliminary unemployment rate was 5.8 percent in December – down 0.2 percentage points from the reported November unemployment rate, down 0.7 percentage points from one year ago, and down 1.7 percentage points since Mayor Muriel Bowser was sworn into office on January 5, 2015.
