Washington Metro Region Adds 8,100 Jobs in May

(Washington, DC) - The District of Columbia Department of Employment Services (DOES) reported today that the preliminary May job estimates show an increase of 8,100 jobs for a total of 2,738,900 jobs in the Washington Metropolitan Division. The private sector increased by 6,800 jobs, while the public sector increased by 1,300 jobs. The Washington Metropolitan Division's not seasonally adjusted May 2019 unemployment rate was 3.2 percent, which is up 0.3 percentage points from the April rate of 2.9 percent.
